Permashield web design by Northstar

Northstar was selected by Permashield in a competitive pitch against several other web design and development companies in Leeds. The appointment was made due to the quality of the design which reflects a professional company, the Search Engine Optimisation / online marketing ideas, and - of course - price.

The project involved close collaboration with the client, firstly deciding what goals needed to be achieved. In this case rankings by the major search engines for a select and target roster of keyword phrases.

From this list of targets, keyword analysis and competitiveness was undertaken and the website structure and hierarchy was designed.

Search Engine Optimisation

Unlike brochure sites, the purpose of Permashield is to generate leads for their wall coating, roofline restoration, and exterior wall business. For this to be achieved, it required on-site and off-site search engine optimisation (SEO). Each page was optimised for a select 1 or 2 keywords and these were woven into the copy and meta data. In addition, a link building programme was engaged through Directory submissions, Article submissions, reciprocal link generation and postings on blogs and information services.

Copywriting

Well written copy not only converts visitors to customers, it is a vital part of the SEO process. Any given page can only be optimised for one or two keyword phrases, and these have to be seamlessly interwoven into the copy. How often, and where they are used, is also is also key to search engine success on the SERPS.

Web accessibility

The site was developed to the highest standards for accessibility and usability, each page tested and approved to W3C XHTML 1.1 and CSS 2 standards. Most pages also comply with the Web Accessibility Initiative to Triple A compliance.

Web hosting

The site is hosted on a secure server which is monitored 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, from several IP addresses located throughout the UK. Any moment the server is down, an SMS message is automatically sent to our service engineers to repair the fault and get the site back online as quickly as possible.

Over the past year our record has been exemplorary with over 99.9% uptime. This web hosting service is carried out by Northstar's partner 939 Design, based in Hull.
